The United States Economy

The economy over the last eighteen months had started with moderate production, but began to slope into a recession causing the unemployment rate to rise. Beginning in the fourth quarter of the year 001, the Federal Reserve decided to lower its federal funds rate to 1-/4 %( this was the lowest rate in the last 40 years). With this move the economy expanded quickly not soon after the change. Consumer Spending increased considerably and housing production was on the rise with the help of good weather. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) had increased at an annual rate at an excess of 6 %. With the inflation adjusted at such a low rate, interest investments began to decline and business investments for an increase of capital had increased. The Fiscal Policies action to lower taxes, give investment incentives, and increase higher spending are stimulating the aggregate demand curve in a positive way. With a combination of a decline in our foreign exchange value of the dollar, the unemployment rate at a low percentage maintaining around 4.5 %, and economic growth strengthening, our economy was heading on the right track.

In the beginning of the year of 00, the pace of the economy was still rolling at a steady pace, mainly because of the unchanged pace of 001. The increase in real (GDP) was taking off rapidly with a surge of government spending on military defense, and weather related conditions which in turn was destroying property. Inflation was on the rise due to higher energy costs, but soon dampened a bit causing the inflation expectations to remain stabilized in the first half of the year. The competitive pressures of the foreign markets soon started to limit the growth of profits for the economy. With this in mind the (FOMC) decided to keep the federal funds rate at 1-/4 % unchanged. The (FOMC) thought it would be the best interest for the economy to achieve its long run objectives to keep the rate this low, but still faced the possibility that economic growth with the relatively high unemployment rate and lack of price pressures will cause the economy to fall short of its given potential.

The outlook of the end of the 00 year and surfacing the 00 year tends to look promising. The members of the Board of Governors and the Federal Reserve Bank, whom all participate in deliberations of the (FOMC), expect the economy to expand rapidly over the next six quarters. (GDP) is expected to rise a ¼ % for the year 00 and ½ % for the year 00. The 00 deficit is expected to be less than one percent of the total (GDP). If, growth promoting policies are pursued and withhold on spending is exercised, deficits will be both small and temporary. The government will need to higher interest rates to induce investment spending. Write my Essay on The United States Economy

With all done and said, I like the look our economy is heading, especially after the September 11, 001 terrorist attack. I think the citizens are regaining faith in our government's authority and are now increasing their spending on consumption goods, as well as investments in the stock markets which is slowly increasing after one of its all time lows. Hopefully our economy will exceed in the future comings to maintain as the most powerful nation abroad.

Equiano and The Middle Passage

Writers write for many different reasons, whether it may be to entertain, inform, or persuade. Writing would be nothing without diction and tone. Diction is the author's choice of words, and tone it the voice used to reveal the writers mood, feeling on emotion, these two go tighter because the specific words used give the feeling of the story. Equiano's purpose in writing this normative was to inform everyone of the mistreatment of the slaves on the middle passage in which he does by using these three different tones depression, frustration and amazement.

The first use of tone that comes up is the tone of helplessness. In the beginning to this narrative he is describing where the slaves were and how they were all compressed into tiny spaces. There was nothing that they could do. This brings out the feeling of helplessness. "… We were all pent up tighter, like so many sheep in a field…"(pg.48). He felt like an animal, that's how bad it was. No way of communication, no one to comfort you. One would start to feel lost and that's how he felt, "…rather than give any of them to us to eat…" (pg.46). This quote describes how hungry he was and that he had no way of getting food. He uses all of this to help the audience reading and tell them very bluntly what was going on on this ship.

The second tone that is very frequently apparent throughout this narrative is frustration. "I envied the freedom they enjoyed…"(pg 45). How low can a person feel? It's evident that he wasn't used to this sort of treatment. Equiano wants to be able to be out on the deck and learn how run the ship. For him, his independence is taken away which makes him feel discomfiture. When you are able to pick and choose what you want to do and suddenly that is all taken away from you then you feel frustrated. When he and his sister were split apart after they were taken he was also frustrated because he couldn't do anything about it. Equiano grabs out this feeling and reels in the reader to almost make them feel like they are in the story.

Custom writing service can write essays on Equiano and the Middle Passage

"… I first saw flying fishes…"(pg 47). In this quote we see the feeling and tone of amazement. It's like for the first time. It almost makes the reader excited and want to go on reading. "I also now first saw the use of the quadrant" (pg.47). When the ship had reached it' destination he began to see lots of new things. The quadrant was on 6thing he was amazed by. He wanted to know more. "…I was now more persuaded than ever, that I was in another world…"(pg. 47). This quote just verifies he feelings about the flying fishes and quadrants. This arrangement brings out lots of other feelings like curiosity and it keeps the reader on their toes pushing them to read more.

It has already been said that tone and diction will make or break the way we read a story or passage. In Equiano's account of the middle passage, great emphasis is put on the three leading tones depression, frustration, and amazement. Essentially Equiano's purpose in writing the narrative as to inform everyone the mistreatment of the slaves on the middle passage; Which he does with the use of tones. I believe that he did a great job and made me interested in reading on.

Police are The Real Criminal

What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. In our times, the police have become the criminals. Some police are using their power to do bad things, and society has come to fear police. Systems of law enforcement need change. The courts have failed the police, and the police have turned to other means of justice. We must stop the corruption in the police force.

I have respect for the police, and the job they do. Policemen are a selected few who do a dangerous job. Police have done many great things to help improve communities, help people during their off duty hours and stand strong in face of many fears. The police trying to enforce the law are on the streets in all types of weather. Instead of being at home with their families on holidays they are working to keep peace. Everyday, they step out in a world where violence is considered appropriate.

Across America, police have been involved in scandals and drugs. They are abusing the power that they have been given. The communities have begun not to trust the police because of their conduct toward the citizens. People have been beaten and harassed by the guys in blue. People in the communities have seen the police push individuals around and take things from individuals for no reason. People receive the wrong message. The public no longer can see a difference between the police and criminals.

Problems like police corruption have no easy answer. However, there are steps to target the root of the problem. We must start by holding officers accountable for their actions. If an officer uses too much force, he should be put on probation. The people must show the police that misconduct will not be tolerated. The attitudes must change within the departments. When the departments no longer ignore the complaints of excessive force, then the polices attitudes will begin to change. Screening of officers needs to be done more often. More psychologists and criminologists are needed to spot those officers who are in trouble or on the brink of mental illness. A good start would be to teach the superior officers to recognize warning signs like lateness or angry mode swings.Order custom research paper on Police are The Real Criminal

Many problems between the police and citizens are miscommunication. Critics say, Racial and social classes have become a difficult problem because of communication. Education is important for changing things. The academy should teach classes on communication and corruption. The classes can help new officers deal with many problems that they will face in the field. Policing needs to meet the challenges with racial and social classes (Can...?).

Police should be paid a better salary. They need enough income to run a house and finance a family without having to take a second job. A higher income would help to take away some of the money pressure for policemen. Local police officers make about $1,00 a year. The salary may vary from location to location.

Police corruption is a problem that everyone needs to address. Corruption affects us in many ways from driving to feeling safe. The public may not know the causes for the problem, but there is no reason for the corruption to continue. The law enforcement system may never be perfect, but improvements may promote public support and cooperation. The public, government officials and law enforcement departments must work together to combat the problems of corruption.

Lord of the Flies #1

Jack

Jack is the powerful creeping darkness in the way that he starts out as the leader of the choirboys in chapter one and by the last chapter is the leader of the savage youth group. Jack Merridew is a very arrogant character that assumes leadership of the tribe through instigation and turning the older kids against Ralph and manipulating the littluns. The only apparent reason that he is turning everyone against Ralph to take control of the tribe is the fact that he can't stand not being the most powerful.

Ralph

Custom Essays on Analysis of Lord of the Flies-Main Characters

Ralph is one of the elder boys that is the mainly the leader of the society of kids throughout the story. Throughout the story Ralph is proving his honorable attentions of keeping the order in the island and be the arbiter of the island, while maintaining the majority of the children in favor of his ruling. He is a soldier; he struggles throughout the story to establish a true democratic order. He wants all the boys to survive and he wants to be rescued, that is why he struggles to maintain order.

Piggy

Piggy is the voice of reason throughout the whole book, well until he dies. His is physically weak and likes to complain, but he is very intelligent and sees every aspect of the situations at hand. Because he is considered a nerd he is usually ignored. He is the first person that Ralph meets and they develop close ties, especially after they are banished. Piggy wants to survive and get off the island just as Ralph does.

Simon

Simon is kind of a neutral character in the story. He does what is asked of him and helps the younger kids. He is the religious character in the story. He comes to understand the Lord of the Flies and the beast on the mountain. He understands from the Lord of the Flies that the evil is inside of mankind and not something that mankind acquires. When he tries to tell the rest of the tribe the revelation that he had they accidentally kill. Simon's motivation is to get off the island and do whatever it'll take to survive .

Roger

Roger is a sadistic and twisted soul. He would slit another's throat just because. He gains joy from forcing misery unto others. He bullies most of the younger kids and kills Piggy. He goes throughout the story causes chaos for the reason of wanting to.

Foils

Ralph & Jack/Roger

Through Jack and Rogers' heinous actions and thoughtless actions of rushing off into the jungle hunting hogs, and bullying littluns they help bring out Ralph's honorable intentions and leadership qualities. When Jack grabbed the conch shell and blew it to summon the tribe and proclaim Ralph's incompetence it showed how much of a kind person Ralph is.

Ralph & Jack/Superman & Lex Luthor

I compare many things between these fours persons. Ralph is struggling to protect the littluns and is usually in confrontation with Jack. Superman is trying to protect the world and civilians and is usually confronted by Lex Luthor. As Lex Luthor used kryptonite to weaken Superman to a state of incapacity in order to control the society, Jack did the same by using the conch shell as the symbol of power to take control of the tribe eventually as Lex Luthor did society.

It may be hard for arachniphobes to believe that spiders ever bring good luck, but this early 0th century good luck postcard proves they do.

Further evidence comes from The Mascot Book by Elizabeth Villiers, published in England in 1. According to Villiers, the spider was popular with the Romans, who had a favourite mascot in the shape of a precious stone upon which a spider was engraved. Also they were fond of carrying little spiders of gold or silver, or any of the fortunate metals, to bring good luck in anything to do with trade.

Spiders have always meant good luck to professional weavers and spinners, for obvious reasons, but corroboration of the spiders financial symbolism is provided by a bas relief on outside of the The Bohemian Club building in San Francisco. The club was founded in the 1th century as a place for local businessmen to set aside Dull Care and engage in theatrical and sexual Hi-Jinks, so the image -- of a spider and the words weaving spiders come not here -- warns members to leave their financial schemes outside the precincts.

Why is the spider supposed to bring good luck in money matters? I think it is because the spider in its web is believed to attract its prey; thus the spider amulet is believed to attract money to the bearer. In short, Europeans seem to have used spider amulets in the same way that African-Americans use a pair of magnetic lodestones to draw money or Mexicans use horseshoe amulets accompanied by pictures of San Martin Caballero as symbolic horseshoe magnets to attract money. (Notable styles of Mexican money-magnets include small horseshoe package amulets, El Secreto de la Virtuosa Herradura wall hangings, and the unusual Snow Globe Pyramid of Luck.)

Like many other beliefs centered in animal lore, the luckiness attached to the spider has diminished during this century, probably because urbanization has rendered our environs virtually free of species other than human beings. Still, some money-magic does yet adhere to the spider, even among the computer-using classes. For instance, from the United Kingdom, Shona McNeill writes

There is a relic of this belief in my family -- there is a species of tiny black spider, that we call the Money Spider. If one walks across your palm, it will bring good luck in money.

Villiers noted that in France during the 10s, the sight of a spider in the house is not fortunate in the forenoon, but if you see it in the afternoon, you may certainly expect a present, the value of the gift increasing according to the lateness of the hour.

In a similar vein, my mother, Liselotte Erlanger Glozer, recounts the following German verse about finding spiders in the house at different times of day, which she learned as a child in Bavaria, in the early 10s

Spinne am Morgen

bringt Kummer und Sorgen

Spinne am Nachmittag

bringt Freude am dritten Tag

Spinne am Abend

erquickend und labend

Her non-rhyming translation of this verse is

Spider in the morning

brings grief and sorrow

Spider in the afternoon

brings joy on the third day

Spider in the evening

refreshes and nourishes

Elizabeth Villiers wrote, The idea that to kill a spider will bring bad luck is common still, and most housewives, while destroying the web, will carefully lift the spider and put it out of doors. That killing a spider is followed by monetary loss is the belief in some parts of the country, thus particularizing the kind of ill luck to be expected. But to see a spider is fortunate so long as it is not hurt.

Mission Statement

We will connect our customers' business needs with the most effective and easy to use computer technology solutions.

Pricing Strategy

There will be three options to pick fromBuy cheap Mission Statement and Pricing Strategy for a Small Business Consulting Firm term paper

1) An hourly rate typically used during the beginning phase of an installation for gathering requirements and clearly defining deliverables for the complete implementation phase. We will do a preliminary review of general requirements and provide an estimate to the customer of how many hours it will take to complete the analysis or implementation. I am still collecting data on the hourly rates charged in the metropolitan Detroit area for this type of consulting.

) A fixed price contract typically used once the deliverables for the systems have been clearly defined and agreed upon.

) A retainer fee this approach could follow the implementation of an integrated business systems suite of applications which the owner wants to continue enhancing or monitoring. It could also cover a "production support" type service that would monitor daily, weekly, monthly operations and perform such things as backups and restores. The advantage of a monthly retainer fee or an annual retainer fee paid monthly is the benefit of a steady income as opposed to a fixed price contract for a one-time service.

To get the business started and to gain a better idea of the effort involved in the implementation of a suite of integrated applications we would set up two or three businesses for free. This would give us valuable experience, an opportunity to get the "kinks" out, references to put in our advertising, and the potential for positive recommendations from the owners we set up.

Price Elasticity

Because owners of businesses, both large and small, are very sensitive to costs, a percentage decrease in price could very well result in a greater percentage increase in demand for our services and conversely, a percentage increase in price could result in a greater percentage decrease in demand. Therefore, the price would be defined as "elastic." However, if we can convince our customers of the value of a trusting relationship, integrity of data, well-tested systems and seamless installations and operations, then a percentage higher price than our competitors may not result in a greater percentage decrease in demand for our services, thereby making our prices less elastic.

Other Possibilities for Income

While our business is establishing a reputation and generating more profits, we will be investigating the augmentation of our income by writing articles for our local newspaper or trade journals, working for a temp service that contracts consulting services with their own customer base, teaching a course at a local college, writing a book.

Became Thailand's capital in 178; Bangkok was an outlying district of Thonburi. King Rama I created and defined the city when he decided to move the capital across the river from Thonburi to Bangkok in 178. Since he thought that the location was easier to defend. Thousands of Khmer prisoners of war were forced to build the city walls, and the existing canal system was extended to relieve transport problems. Artisans of Ayutthaya build new temples. Construction of Bangkok was completed in 1785, it was given an elongated name consisting of 164 letters, but was colloquially called Krung Thep (City of Angels), and Bangkok is the name of the city to the outside world. Under the rule of Rama III Thailand was successful in reestablishing relations and making trades with China which were necessary to meet the increasing domestic agricultural production. He also started a frenzy of temple building. During his monastic period, he reformed the education system and allowed limited western trade. King Mongut (Rama IV) created new laws to improve the women and children's rights. He also opened new waterways and the first road of Bangkok (Chareonkrung). King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) started to reform the tradition, and the legal and administrative realm. Under his reign, Thailand developed relations with European nations and the USA. He introduced schools, roads, railways, and Thailand's first post office. In 18, he overhauled the administration to form a cabinet government. He also abolished slavery, promoted modernization, and sacrificed large Thai territories to prevent European colonization. King Rama VII changed Thailand's form of government from absolute monarchy to democracy. This developed the constitutional monarchy. Under Rama IX's government, which is the current government, the country's name was officially changed from Siam to Thailand in 146. In Thai this was defined as "Prathet Thai" meaning the country of the free Thai races.

The population of Bangkok really skyrocketed after 170 at which point it was .5 million and by 000 Bangkok's population had exploded to 10 million. In 1 Thailand established a constitutional government and Bangkok became the hub of a vast expanding service industry. Following World War II Bangkok quickened its pace towards modernization. From the mid-160's Bangkok became a favourite amongst tourists looking for 'rest, recreation, and relaxation'. Bangkok was riding a double-digit economic boom through the 180's. Bangkok was hit hard by the economic crisis that swept Asia in 17. However, while other Asian economies continued in crisis, Thailand was beginning to resuscitate its financial systems and its economy. Today Bangkok is back at its role as the financial hub of mainland South-East Asia, luring a mixture of Asian and Western investors. The city continues to expand, attracting hordes of visitors each year. Increased population and modernization from the 170's onwards have caused some problems in Bangkok. The housing situation is appalling as there are over 10 million people in Bangkok and a direct result of the population and modernization explosion is a problem with severe traffic congestion. The loss of many cultural sections of Bangkok is a high price to pay for modernization. All in all Bangkok has been moving forward and is continually developing.

Tessie Hutchinson in "The Lottery"

Tessie Hutchinson is a middle-aged housewife and mother of four children. She is the unfortunate scapegoat/victim of the annual village lottery. Being late for the lottery, making rebellious remarks, and questioning the rules of the lottery are all hints that set Tessie up to be the lottery's victim. She represents one of few voices of rebellion in a village controlled by tradition and complacency. Her low status as a woman has led many critics to state that Tessie's fate illustrates the authority of men over women.

Tessie is a woman whose role as a housewife deprived her of her freedom by forcing her to submit to a husband who gains his power over her by virtue of his place in the work force. Tessie, however, rebels against her role, and such rebellion is just what the orderly functioning of her society cannot stand. The villagers believe, unconsciously, that their commitment to a work ethic will grant them some magical immunity from selection.

Tessie's rebellion begins with her late arrival at the lottery. She explains to Joe Summers, the administrator of the lottery, that she was doing dishes and forgot what day it was. This could be interpreted as violating the village's work ethic and neglecting her specific job within the village's social division of labor, which the lottery actually reinforces. In Peter Kosenko's research, he believes the selection of Tessie Hutchinson as the lottery's scapegoat shows us the unconscious connection that the villagers draw between the lottery and their work ethic.Order Custom Essay on Tessie Hutchinson in "The Lottery"

When Tessie realizes that her husband holds the unlucky slip, she cries out that the process was not fair. The reader learns at this moment that the lottery does not offer a reward or prize in the traditional sense. She claims her husband had to rush to choose the slip of paper and that her daughter and son-in-law should be included in the following round of drawing. She is the only one who rebels against male domination. Each remark she makes evokes nervous laughter from the crowd, which sense the taboo that she has violated.

When Tessie draws the paper with the deadly black mark on it, she does not show it to the crowd; instead her husband Bill forces it from her hand and holds it up. By holding up her slip, Bill Hutchinson reasserts his dominance over his wayward wife and simultaneously transforms her into a symbol to others of the perils of disobedience. Bill's unquestioning acceptance of the results of the lottery, despite the victim being his own wife, emphasizes the brutality the villagers are willing to carry out in the name of tradition.

Tessie's rebellion, being entirely unconscious, is revealed by her cry while being stoned, "It isn't fair, it isn't right." Tessie does not object to the lottery, only to her own selection as it's scapegoat. It would have been fine if someone else had been selected. Perhaps the village might have chosen Tessie if the lottery had been, in fact, an election.

My English Classmates

There are many people in this world who hold great reputations. There are far fewer people who possess great character. Reputations are built in just moments, and reflect what you do in front of people. Character, on the other hand, is built over years, and reflects what is unseen by others. Of all of my classmates in English class, three exemplifies great characters more than any of the others. Their name is Stephanie, Tameka, and Jamie. After reading through their profiles, it seems that each person has chosen their own way but has met at one point in their lives. Everyone has an idea of what they want to accomplish in college and life and each has a means to reach their goal.

Stephanie Westerfield was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She's 1 years old and has sisters. She's the oldest, her sister Angelia is 18 years old, and Heather and Jennifer are twins. Stephanie had been going to Houston Community College for two years, but has only attended semesters. What causes her to struggle most in school is her family. Her parents were married for 0 years and are recently divorced. She and her sisters all live with her mother, therefore, she had to skip a few semesters of school to help her mother with her sisters. Everything is going well with her sister and mom now, so she can focus more on school. Her goal is to finish school and become a nurse before the age of 5.

Tamek Silmon was born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas. She's 7 years old and has been married for years since high school. She moved to Houston two years ago and has a one year old daughter named Mycah, who was born on New Years day 00. She has sisters, and one brother. They all think that they can only have girls because she has four nieces and a daughter of her own. Her mother is still hoping for a grandson and thinking maybe she will give her one, and Tameka still wants to have two more kids. Tameka had been in college at Houston Community College for two years. She's going to transfer to North Harris Community College next semester because she was not aware of the out of district fees. Her goal is to graduate from college and have a teaching certificate. She likes to teach from Pre-K through second grade levels and have another baby about year later.

Custom writing service can write essays on Interview Friends

Rachel Rigby is the last of the three classmates. She was born in West Columbia and moved to Houston four years ago. She is now 4 years old and the older of two daughters. Her sister is 0 years old and her best friend. Her family has struggle a bit after her dad suffered a stroke but they are all happy now. Her mom and sister still lives in West Columbia to take care of her dad, since he is paralyzed from the neck down after his stroke. Rachel lives with her boyfriend, Trey, and they have recently bought a piece of land here in Houston. Rachel and Trey have been childhood friends and she hopes to make their dreams come true when they get marry. Her goal is to get a degree and open up a gift-shop.

In conclusion, there are some people who become successful in this life because they are destined to. But most people become successful in this life because they are determined to. I want to say that all life isn't much successful as most of people think. Even though there are those people in our life who trust more than everything to help us succeed, it's important not to forget that "success" can turn into "failure". Maybe that's why we ought to be strong and patient and never give up in our lives.

Racism, Ethnocentrism and Multiculturalism

Racism, discrimination and prejudice are extensive in America. Although, racism and discrimination are not accepted as it was in the 40's and the 60's, but it still subsists in our society and its being used socially today. Racism is a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. In addition to racism, Americans also tend to be ethnocentric. They tend to believe that their ethnicity is superior to any others and tend to judge other ethnicities from the perspective of their ethnicity. On the other hand, multiculturalism can be a possible solution to problems like ethnocentrism and racism.

Cultural minorities experience racism as a part of their everyday life. They experience verbal abuse and slander from people of majorities. Racism and discrimination go hand in hand as racism leads to discrimination. Discrimination is the treatment given based on the class, race, religion etc. of a person. Even if racism and discrimination are not legal anymore, they still haven't been eradicated from our society. For example, a few decades ago blacks weren't allowed to go to the same school as whites, they had to sit in the back of the bus and so on. These are some instances of the ways the government discriminated against blacks. Racism in those days was exploited to such an extent that only whites were treated in a respectable manner. The Italians, Irish, Jews were also victims of racism and discrimination to some extent. Thus, so much racism is unhealthy for a nation's progress as it creates tension in a society and a nation; and keeps us from maintaining unity, keeping peace and helping each other.

Ethnocentrism is the belief that one's culture is superior to that of others thus judging other cultures as substandard compared to theirs. Americans tend to cocoon themselves with their own culture so that no other culture can penetrate it and open their eyes to a new dimension. This makes them less accepting of others and their culture and ethnicity. Narrow mindedness on our side could create confusion and misunderstanding and thus leading to conflicts in the future. If one could look at other cultures from a different perspective and a broad standpoint there would be more understanding amongst us as a nation.

Custom Essays on racism

Multiculturalism is the solution and the bright side to be focused on. If all the negative aspects like racism and ethnocentrism were to be overlooked, American culture can be enriched by adding the best of other cultures. American culture is so diverse and consists of so many cultures and ethnicities all over the world. Multiculturalism is bound to eliminate racism and making one more accepting of others and their culture. This would welcome more immigrants, which not only contributes to cultural enrichment but also technological progress. Learning about other cultures and accepting them is bound to broaden our horizons and makes us more open-minded. Thus, for the reasons mentioned above multiculturalism can help eliminate racism and ethnocentrism.

In conclusion, there is an evident need for us to come out of our shells and look at the bigger picture and cease being judgmental. This could advocate many positive beliefs in future and get rid of the negative tenets like racism and ethnocentricity. Therefore, multiculturalism should be promoted which eventually will abolish all the cultural negativity in America. Alongside, we shouldn't judge people by their skin color or religion but accept them from what kind of person they are.

Please note that this sample paper on racism is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on racism, we are here to assist you. Your persuasive essay on racism will be written from scratch, so you do not have to worry about its originality.

Schools should spend less money on standardized tests. There are many other things that need improvement. I think they are just wasting money on these tests because in some case students never get the results back. What good is taking the test when they don't know how they did? I mean some tests are good; although, the time limit should be removed. Some students don't even get done with their test and towards the end just starts marking answers, and some students get done with thirty minutes still left in the exam. The states are getting the wrong statistics when these people don't have enough time to complete the tests because theyre just guessing on the answers to basically get done. School system should get rid of the standardized testing and focus more on actually helping students learn.

Schools should spend more money on more teachers and more experienced teachers. The more teachers schools have the smaller the classes will be and the students can get more individual attention that they need throughout the school year. The experienced teachers can recognize where the students need the most help in and work from there. Most teachers have an agenda that they follow throughout the year, but all the students may not be caught up that far and tend to get left behind. All students do not learn the same material in the same time period; therefore, there should be more classrooms, so students get put in appropriate classes they need to help them move on. Also this way students cant slide by in school without having to do the same work everyone else had.

Schools can also start a progress program where it tracks every individual as they progress in school. Every school should give their own tests that way each school and student knows how they are doing and what could be done better on the next test, instead of the Iowa or Stanford Test in which most people don't even find out how they scored and on which part they need to improve. This way all the preceding teachers have all the information on each of their students and they immediately know where to start from on everyone one. Its like a police record of someone; it shows what each student has accomplished throughout the previous years and how he or she did.

Most schools need more computers also. Cutting back on some of the tests will provide more money for the districts to buy additional computers. These computers can be used for testing. It will eliminate the whole writing process and the hassle of grading the work. Taking the tests on computers could improve a student's ability to learn. The computers can provide images and voice capabilities to guide the students through the process, and makes it easier for them to learn. The computers could also take the time restrictions of the tests, so the students wouldn't have as much pressure on them while taking it, and also as Botstein mentioned in his essay, " Computers also make it possible to measure the rate of change for each pupil."(1)

Custom writing service can write essays on No More Tests

I didn't have any of this when I went to high school and I think I missed out on some of the learning experiences. My teachers just assigned the class some pages to read and answer a few questions in the back of the chapter. Most of the time the only test I ever took were those standardized test and even those I never received the results or any comments in return to help me figure out which parts I needed improvement on. Hopefully in the future someone realizes all the faults in the system and makes use the technologies we now have and make these changes.

5. Story.

This book is about a man called Dr. Henry Jekyll he is a rich man who lived in the city of London in 1885. He was a strange character, who was conducting experiments on him self by taking drugs and shifting into another character. He called this character Mr. Hyde thus living with two different personalities to an extent where he wrote a will leaving all his belongings to his other character in case he shifts to the other personality permanently. This confused his friend the lawyer Mr. Utterson who started investigating with common friends about the mystery of the will as Dr. Jekyll did not even introduce him to this unknown heir. At first Mr. Utterson discussed Dr. Jekylls character with Mr. Enfield. Mr. Enfield told him about the most unusual story of a man who tripped over a little girl without realizing his fault and just stood there silently with out any reaction for his bad deed, while people gathered around to help the crying girl. The girls father came shouting for the police. The strange man finally spoke asking them not to call the police offering a 100 pounds. They accepted the offer and went with him to a house where he brought out a Checkbook in the name of Dr. Jekyll and signed as Mr. Hyde. Mr. Enfield took Mr. Utterson and showed him the door to that house. A new clue is added to Mr. Uttersons knowledge. To follow the mystery Mr. Utterson started to get more suspicious because Dr. jekyll never mentioned Mr. Hydes name to him. He then went to visit Dr. Lanyon, a very close friend of Dr. Jekyll, to ask him about Mr. Hyde. Though Dr. Lanyon knew Dr. Jekyll but he had no idea about Edward Hyde. Thereafter Mr. Utterson kept watching the old black door night after night, finally at the third night he saw a little man wearing large clothes approaching the door. He stepped up to him and addressed him by the name of Mr. Hyde. The man answered back how do you know me. Mr. Utterson told him that Dr. Jekyll informed me about you because I am his lawyer. The man ignored Utterson and quickly unlocked the door, walked in and shut the door behind him. Furthermore Mr. Utterson went to Dr. Jekylls house and asked his servant, Poole, whether Dr. Jekyll is in the house or not. Poole said that he was out. Then he asked him if he knows a Mr. Hyde and the servant answered that he is a friend of Dr. Jekyll however he had never met him because he usually comes in through the back door of the laboratory.

To sum up Mr. Uttersons search for the true identity of Mr. Hyde, he investigated with all the mutual friends. He found through the letters send to him and the rest of the friends that Dr. Jekyll was involved in a Sirius experiment to control the evil part of his mind. Unfortunately, he was too late to save his friend Dr. Jekyll from his sad end.

WHAT IS A FAN?

A fan is defined as an ardent devotee; an enthusiast; usually a spectator. (worldnet, onl.) Although this statement leaves little room for argument, it does little to clarify what a fan is beyond a devoted spectator. It is my duty, as a devout sports fan, to embark upon this seemingly difficult task of defining what a fan is, to distinguish the difference between a fan and a fanatic.

A fan is someone who follows a team, event, or person. A person becomes a fan when they devote a little of themselves to what they admire. Part of being a fan is to give support to something in hopes that this support will somehow lead to the success of what ever is that you give yourself to. After reading the assigned passages, from Sport in Contemporary Society by D. Stanley Eitzen, I realize that a fan, in the case of sports is as important to sports as the athletes are themselves. The fan is what creates the heroes of sports. As a fan, one embraces a team and follows it over the years through victories and defeats. The payout for all the hours spent watching is when your team finally makes it to the top, In this respect the athlete and the audience experiences overlap and interpenetrate in the mythological dimension, creating a shared realm of belief and feeling in which the athlete and the spectator are united in many of their hopes, fears and interpretations of the outcome of any event or contest.(Bursten. Sport as Secular Sacrament. Eitzen,15)

After the readings, I have a better understanding of the lengths that some athletes go to in order to gain the admiration of their fans. In some cases this desire is so great that they are willing to push themselves to the point of injury. Young athletes are especially open to injury. All of them, doctors say, use joints and muscles too much, and dont allow enough healing time for the stress related injuries they develop. (Tye. Kids and Sports Injured at an early age. Eitzen 17) This was very apparent to me in the article regarding female athletes in figure skating and gymnastics, where the elite child athlete and the American obsession with winning that produced a training environment wherein results are brought at any cost, no matter how devastating."(Ryan. Female Gymnasts and Ice Skaters the Dark side. Eitzen 14) I believe that fanatics, be it spectator, parent, coach etc., have to claim some of the responsibility for the harm that young athletes do to themselves for the sake of recognition and success. The intense training and pressure heaped on by coaches, parents, and federation officials-the very people who should be protecting the children-often result in eating disorders, weakened bones, stunted growth, debilitating injuries, and damaged psyches.(Ryan. Female Gymnasts and Ice Skaters The Dark Side. Eitzen 144) As seen in the movie "Field of Dreams" starring Kevin Costner a fanatical parent is often the cause of a child losing interest in something he once enjoyed. As the father, being his child's greatest fan, he attempted to push his son to achieve things that he was unable to accomplish himself. In doing so the father created distance in their relationship as well, his son rejected his attempts to push him along, and rejected baseball all together. The importance of the baseball field and the players was to reunite him with all the things he once loved, which were baseball and his father.Order Custom what is a fan paper

In the simplest terms a fan is someone who is enthusiastic about sports, but at a deeper level a fan is someone who has a "pure" love for the game, which leaves no room for fanatical or obsessive behavior.

Please note that this sample paper on what is a fan is for your review only. A Day to Remember

We fly into Orlando F.L. Sunday night to visit Tim's parents. Tim and I had already flown down over the holidays to visit my parents. They have lived in Florida for several years now.

We settle in for the night at his parent's house. We prepare to meet my Mother at Busch Gardens the next morning to spend the day with her.

Buy Falling Love term paper

Tim and I have our usual breakfast with his parents. We load up the car and get ready for a fun filled day at Bush Gardens.

On our road trip we make our usual stops for drinks and money. I purchase a pair of gas station sunglasses. They were blue shades with a heart in one of the corners. Tim really hits up the ATM. Not sure why but I don't ponder the thought.

As we are traveling on the expressway Tim turns off on the wrong exit for Busch Gardens. Knowing the area wel, I inform him that now we are now going the wrong way.

He responds, "No, you know that two way by Busch Gardens? Your Mom told me if we go this way that we will hit that route, then cut down. Don't worry it is a short cut."

Okay, so I give him another 5 minutes. My frustration is growing at this point. We had planned to meet my Mom at 10am and now it is 50am. We are going to be late. We should have never taken that exit! I was positive of this.

I express my discomfort. "Tim this is ridicules," I pick up my phone to yell at my Mom, for such absurd directions. "We are about to be in Zephyrhills, where I go skydiving. This makes no sense!"

Tim then informs me to hang up the phone and not to call my Mom. He says "Listen, when we get to Zephyrhills can you get us to Skydive City? We're going Skydiving."

"What? Why? Like you would really go skydiving Tim," I reply.

"Well we're going. So you better get us there," Tim answers.

I could hardly believe it. I had asked him before if he would go skydiving with me and he said, "No way!" Holy Cow! He is serious. Sure enough we got to the sight. There's Mom, What? He had this all planned out I am shocked!

While purchasing the packages he wants to get videos for both of us. "Honey, that is not needed I already have two tapes." I was just trying to save money. He responds saying, " Hon, step back I got this." Whoa, okayI think to myself, as I step back.

We go through our practice drills. Go to the plane very promptly. Then in no time Tim was out, then I followed behind. I still can't believe he did this. I am so proud of him. He seems so at ease. Both of us have a cameraman so we both could remember this day forever.

As I was under the parachute with my tandem Master I stated, "Wow, I can't believe he did this. This is amazing! I am going to have to marry this kid someday."

Perfect landing. After I land I run up to Tim, give him a big hug, and tell him how proud of him I am. Then something silly occurs. He starts all this I love you stuff in front of all these people and cameras.

"Honey, I see your dreams. I hear your thoughts. I feel your love. I am sooo much in love with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side. (As he pulls out a ring box, then gets on one knee). Will you marry me?" He asks.

Oh my gosh! He did not. I was absolutely dumbfounded, breathless, and full of joy. I catch my breath and say, "Absolutely, of Course I will."

For the rest of our lives we will have these treasured videos to look back on. Tim out did himself. He completely pulled this adventure off behind my back. He had everything planned to a T. He even had a late lunch planned with my Dad.

I consider myself one of the luckiest girls ever, because of the fact that Tim will forever be my great adventure!

Students Appearance Problem or Not?

It is your freshman year in high school, your first time in a new and very scary place. Walking down the hall you pass some guy who has spiked hair that is dyed pink, four earrings in each eyebrow, a chain going from his nose to his ear, pants that could fit an elephant, and a jacket that is thick enough to be used as a landing cushion for a person jumping out of a plane. What do you think? Are you scared of him? Do you see him as a freak and pray that your children do not desire to ever wear an outfit like that? I dont think so. Students should not be allowed to wear what ever they want to school; it could be dangerous, it could affect the way the public views the school system, and it could distract those who actually come to school to learn something.

The dangers of allowing student to choose their own attire are few, but not worth the risk. The first and most obvious is the ability to conceal a weapon in large pants or jackets. There are pants out there that arent that baggy but they could easily conceal a knife or a small handgun and people are wearing them baggier than that. A large jacket could allow a person to conveniently tuck a pistol in to the waist of their pants. This clothing could also represent a gang or have derogatory phrases on them, causing some one to become insulted and possibly leading them to become violent.

Piercings are a different story, while just as dangerous. This danger is not to others, but to the person wearing the jewelry. Piercings can be ripped out as easily as tearing a piece of paper in half. If a person were mad at another yanking on an earring or two would be a great way of evening the score. Thus proving that piercings are just as dangerous as say a knife.Order Custom students appereance problem or not paper

Having no dress code could also deplete the publics view of the school system. Some people make personal contributions to fund school activities. Seeing the school has no control of their students appearance, they might change their mind and realize that their money would be of better use to somewhere else. If a special event, like a sports tournament or academic competition, came to the school that did not restrict the clothing worn by the students, the horrible appearance would be all that they remember.

Then there is the nation-wide argument that has been the main focus point in the fight for school uniforms certain outfits distracting others whom come to school to learn. I know that it would be hard for me to concentrate if the girl next to me was wearing a shirt that was barely longer then her bra and shorts that would fit my ten year old sister. I would also have trouble getting work done if the kid behind me sounded like a room full of six-year-olds with pots and spoons because of the ten-pound jewelry around his neck.

We as Americans need to stand up and show that we will not tolerate free-willed, rebellious teenagers to make a mockery of the American educational system by parading around wearing whatever they feel like. We need to discourage the allowance of piercings in boys and limit the number of earrings that girls have. We nee to get limits as to how short we allow shirts and skirts to be, or how many sizes to big or too small we allow our childrens clothes to be. I am not saying that we need school uniforms. Because I am totally against the idea but I am saying that we need to set specific limits with a strict enforcement and punishment on those who test those limits.

To His Coy Misstress by Andrew Marvell is an extremely interesting and seductive poem about love. Marvell does an excellent job of making his thougts unmatched and original. The poem divides up into three main parts, each with a slightly differnt main idea. The final part of the poem represents how the author and his mistress plan to spend this fleeting time.

In the first half of Marvells poem is that of imagery which sems to turn down time in favor of love. To walk, and pass our long loves day (66). To wall gives us the impression that they are calm and in no rush. Marvell gives us the felling that he is not in a hurry. This coyness, lady, were no crime (66). This line lets us know that he is talking maybe to a more or less young woman, the object of this older gentlemans eye. In the time the poem was written it was known that for a pretty woman, when found interacting with an available man, she is to despaly shyness or unwillingness at least for awhile. Marvell makes rference to past and future events on a grand scale. He starts with I would love yu en years before the Flood. This tells us that even before the flood he was already loving her. Another example is when he uses My vegetable love should grow. Here he is telling us that his love is slow growing. This is also an image of an all-conquering vine which words its way through a forest or fiels, overtaking large spaces until it becomes vaster than empores. In the first part of the poem he is calm and in no rush.

The second part of the poem takes a faster pace. A hundred years should to to praise / Thine eyes, and on thy foredead gaze; / Two hundred to adore each breast, / But thirty thousand to the rest; / An age at least to every part. These lines symbolizes the lkack of time the lover has to show on his mistress the love she is worthy of. Times winged chariot hyrrying near. This means that time is racing toward our end. Marvell also lets us know that if they do not hyrry all they will have is deserty of vast eternity. This means merely the emptiness of a desert. He also tells her that if she does not give up her long-preserved virginity it will turn to dust. In other words, she needs to give it up now before she gets old, and before all his lust turns to ashes or before he dies.

The last part of the poem talks about how they shall spend their time. Now let us sport us while we may, / And now, like amorous birds of prey. With this line he is telling his mistress lets make love now! Like wild anmials. In the lines Let us roll all our strength and / Our sweetness up into one ball, the author can not put it any more clear than that. This man wants to get it on until it is their time to go thorough the iron gates of life, or until we die. The author ends by writing we cannot make our sun / stand still, yet we will make him run, meaning we cannot stop the sun from coming but we can sure melt it with our passion.

In the first part of the poem the author is in no hurry. In the second half he talks about how tine is catching up with them. And last but not least, the third part talks about what could happen if they were to make love. We all have the choice either to tade advantage of time or allow time to take advantage of us.

Im Sorry Love

I found myself in a toasty blanket

thinking of my faulty love,

sweating as my heart quickly fell

and as its rate counteractively clumbed.

Wondering if he thought of me too,

I filled myself with anxiety and alarm...

until nervous silence broke with an alarm.

Unmotivated, I threw off the blanket,

chilling my heart and my toes too.

For now I had to push away my love

and towards the noise I forecefully climbed,

when strangely somehow silence fell.

It was in this moment when truth fell.

Was I imagining the sounding of an alarm?

Back into my bed I dumbfoundly climbed,

burying into the lonely, chilled blanket.

What is this thing that we call love?

Does this indescribable emotion make you crazy too?

I search for unexistant answers and lose my mind too,

daydreaming of the way your hand fell

into mine with such perfection. You professed your love.

Scared, I put up a barrier of alarm

to cover me like a steel blanket;

a great wall only you had climbed.

And with your climb my fear also climbed.

I was afraid of love and heartache too.

I would lie happily wrapped with you under your blanket,

but off your welcoming bed I fell.

You cried out for me in defense and alarm

but you were blind to the danger of my love.

I ran and never looked back my love.

Ran past your favorite cliff we climbed.

Ran past visions of your pillow, your alarm.

Ran past your memories and your love too.

Tripping over my own emotions, I fell,

without you there to provide a warm blanket.

I put up an alarm, Im so sorry my love.

I miss your blanket, into my cold bed I climbed.

Its true I love you, but I failed and we fell.

Everytime I See You

Oh, if only you knew the way your breath

brushes my cheek when your

words kiss my ears.

Your easy eyes;

Your snowy smile

Youre a drug

I find myself needing.

Your curing fix flies me from my troubles.

Who needs prozac when theyve got you?

Oh you, you, you!

My thoughts occupied

and my dreams laced

with your obsessive presence.

I dream that my games end;

I dream you tell me youd never hurt me;

I dream you even care.

Do you know my name?

Was that casual wink that sent my

emotions flying

meaningless?

Or might I hope theres some warmth

for me in your

heart?

All I really want to be

is a spot in your mind.

Secure Spring

Frosty breaths dissapate into the sky

and no longer will those clouds appear.

Winter has passed and said its good-bye,

leaving behind a memorable year.

But the secure blooms of another years array

of bushes, annual flowers, and trees

remind me that some things never betray

my trust that others abuse as they please.

And with the sweet marvelous kiss

of air on a fresh, brilliant bud,

the ancient bloom will reminisce

and burst open in an aeromatic flood.

And so will begin another years trend

of the beautifully loyal season I have come to befriend.

The Song

Nothing in this world brings her more delight

than the touch of the sand between her toes.

Her skin feels warm from the blaze of the sun.

The umbrellas are planted all in rows.

The seagulls wail their call, spotting for food,

plunging through the air once theyve found their gold,

escaping the little kids that wonder

how many waves their castles might withhold.

Beams of light bounce off the waters surface,

broken here and there with carefree splashes

and the beginning of a waves existence,

ending as it vigorously crashes.

This beautiful song is listened to here,

captured in the shell pressed against her ear.

Process Paper

I love making my favorite dish which is Stuffed Cabbage. It has been around in

my family for years, and now I am going to pass it on to those individuals who like to

cook.

Custom writing service can write essays on process paper

You want to begin by having all your ingredients 1 - 1 1/ lb. of Hamburger,1

bag of Rice, jars Spaghetti Sauce (just incase if you like a lot of sauce), pepper, salt,

cumin, and 1 nice size head of cabbage. After you have everything out, you are going to

start cooking your Rice, Cabbage, and browning your Hamburger. (a little trick on

cooking the Cabbage fast is by placing your head of Cabbage into a plastic shopping bag

and twist the top of it so that no air can get out and place it the microwave for 5 to 10

minutes, until it's tender enough to peel apart). While everything is cooking you are

going to take out a bowl so that you can combined your ingredients into, along with a

roaster pan to cook your meal in. Now, that the Rice, Cabbage, and Hamburger are

cooked, the next step is that you are going to drain the grease and add the Hamburger to

the bowl, then add about 1 cup of Rice to start off. Once you have added that, you are

going to set it a side to cool off. Meanwhile as that is cooling off, you are going to take

your Cabbage and start peeling the leafs off , make sure that you don't tear the leafs in

half or you won't be able to stuff them. After you have all the leafs peeled that you want

to use, you are then going to go back to the bowl and begin your mixture. The bowl that

has your Hamburger and Rice in it should be cooled down enough to add your other

ingredients to. Next, is that you are going to put a dash of pepper, salt, and cumin into the

bowl and mix it with a serving spoon (you are doing this so that all the seasonings get

spread out evenly). After you are finished mixing, you are then going to add about 1/ a

jar of Spaghetti Sauce and mix that into your bowl (you don't want the your mixture to

have to much sauce, you want it a little pasty, just enough that everything in the your

bowl sticks together). By this time you are going to make the judgement if you need to

add anymore Rice in it, if you end up adding more Rice then you are going to have to add

a little more Spaghetti Sauce to make up the difference for the Rice. When your mixture

is all done, set your bowl off to the side and get your roasting pan. Then you are going to

take the rest of jar of Spaghetti Sauce and pour it on the bottom of the roaster evenly.

Now, as all that is done, you are ready to stuff your Cabbage. Get a leaf lay it down and

add your Ham,burger on it, add enough meat where you can still fold the leaf around it.

Do that with all the leafs that you want. After you are finished stuffing the Cabbage, lay

them down in the roaster evenly (If you are going to put one on top of another, before you

do that you are going to have to put some more sauce over the first layer before you add

your other layer). As you have all the Stuffed Cabbage in the roaster, you are going to

take the rest of the Spaghetti Sauce and pour it over the Stuffed Cabbages to be cooked.

Pre-heat your oven to 50 degrees, cover up your pan with a lid or tin foil and

cook. For the first 15 minutes you are going to want to cook it with the lid on and then

the last 0 minutes with the lid off. Checking it periodically you are going to want to take

a spoon and pour over some Spaghetti Sauce on the top if it runs off while being cooked.

Meanwhile, that is cooking you can always make up a Salad to go with it or whatever you

want. After the 5 minutes are up, take it out and let it cool off for about 10 minutes.

Now you are all done, sit down and enjoy!!

The play Oedipus the King by Sophocles is a good example of a classic tragedy as defined by Aristotle. He defined a tragic hero as a man not preeminently virous and just, whose misfortune, however, is brought upon him not by vice or depravity, but by some error in judgment…the change in the heroes misfortune must not be from misery to happiness, but on the contrary, from happiness to misery". He further expanded this definition by giving an outline of the classic tragic hero basing this on Sophocles' Oedipus Rex. Aristotle felt that a good tragedy should have a hero who is superior to the average man in some way, yet tragically flawed in another, and whose destiny turns out not to be ultimately his to control. Sophocles' characterization of Oedipus suggests that he is a tragic hero according to Aristotle's notion as stated in his book the poetics.

Oedipus was superior not only because of his standing in life i.e. as a king, but he was also of superior intellect. He possesses the superiority of mind and body that characterize the heroes of ancient Grecian society for example Odysseus. He continued to show this characteristics during the play, and it can be seen clearly right from the beginning when the priest says "…Thebes long since to thee her safety owed, when from the sphinx delivered thy grateful people saw thee, not by man, but by the gods instructed, save the land…"(4). Here, he is praised by the priest for delivering his people out of the hands of the sphinx. Oedipus had outwitted the sphinx that had plundered Thebes for many years, by solving the riddle that no other man could unravel. This shows that his intellectual prowess was unmatched by anyone else in the society. Thus, the people of Thebes venerated him, and believed him to be their deliverer sent by the gods' themselves.

Aside from being of high intellect, Oedipus also showed strength of character and excellent leadership. He is compassionate to the plight of his people as can be seen in the first scene of the play when he says "…as Oedipus; for oh! On me, my children, your sorrows press. Alas! I feel for you my people, for myself, for Thebes." This excerpt shows Oedipus' dedication to his people. He also shows his excellent leadership qualities in that he took action (by sending Creon to the oracle) before the priest came to complain. He was also constantly searching for the truth in order to end the suffering of his people. Thus, Sophocles establishes the character of Oedipus, as a person whom the more modest citizens idolize and look up to.

In order to be the perfect tragic hero however, Oedipus must posses some other qualities as laid down by Aristotle. According to him, a tragic hero must "imitate actions which evoke pity and fear." He must not be a perfect man; as such, a man would not serve the purpose of invoking these emotions but would invoke shock instead.4 He must also not be a vile man, as this would also not inspire pity or fear. ( Sophocles, 5). This hero is a man who is no eminently good and just, yet whose misfortune is brought about by some error or flaw on his part. This flaw is referred to hamartia or error in judgement. Oedipus represents Aristotle's archetype of a tragic hero completely.6

Cheap Custom Essays on oedipus the king.

There are several dimensions to the particular hamartia of Oedipus. The flaws that ultimately led Oedipus to his destruction include pride, impulsiveness, and ignorance. Pride as a characteristic of Oedipus is evident through out the play. In the tragedy, Oedipus can be seen several times exalting himself even at times to the level of the gods.
